Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls

  • Summary: “In celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2026, The San Diego Museum of Art invites artists from the San Diego/Tijuana region to submit applications for a special centennial branding project. We are commissioning three unique artistic interpretations of the Museum’s iconic façade to honor the rich history, architecture, and cultural legacy of the Museum. Selected works will be featured as part of the Museum’s centennial identity and integrated into commemorative materials throughout 2026. In addition, the commissioned pieces will be featured in a Museum gallery space for a portion of the centennial year.”

  • Deadline: 8/1/25

  • Mediums: Any two-dimensional medium is accepted, including digital work

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: “This open call for art welcomes a wide interpretation of the theme. All self-identified women artists are welcome to enter their work. We encourage artists to reflect on and Celebrate! what matters most in their lives and creative practice. Whether it’s the joy of personal milestones, social progress, relationships, the natural world, identity, resistance, cultural heritage, or the act of making art itself. This is a moment to lift up and honor the people, places, ideas, and experiences that fuel your passion.”

  • Location: Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center Gallery, Burbank

  • Exhibition Dates: 9/5/25 - 9/25/25

  • Mediums: Open to artists and photographers working in all media except AI

  • Entry Fee: $40

  • Summary: “The Cultural Arts Committee invites artists to create a signature sculptural installation for the roundabout at the north end of San Pablo Avenue. The selected artwork will serve as a visual landmark and reinforce the corridor’s evolving identity as a vibrant, design-forward public space. Artists are encouraged to consider scale, visibility, and durability in their concepts, and may propose either a single large-scale piece or a series of coordinated elements. Works that incorporate lighting to enhance nighttime presence are strongly encouraged. Water and kinetic features will not be considered.”

  • Summary: “We aim to exhibit work within the genres of vulture-culture and taxidermy that stretches beyond hobby into innovation, we are looking for exhibitors who take artistic licenses on nature, not just replication. Taxidermy inspired artwork WILL BE CONSIDERED!”

  • Summary: “Hidden, secretive, sexy black. Seductive, powerful, elegant black. Formal, prestigious, mysterious black. Step into the womb of night and bring on the noir! If your piece features dominant black or simply features black in a prominent way—it's eligible!”

  • Exhibition Dates: 11/8/25 - 12/5/25

  • Mediums: All 2-dimensional art welcome (min size: 10", max size: 72"). Any 3-dimensional artwork that fits on a pedestal.
