Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls

Summary: “The Los Angeles Makery invites artists to submit work for Common Thread, an exhibition centered on fiber art and material transformation. This show explores the tactile, the woven, the stitched, and the layered—celebrating practices that use thread, fabric, textiles, and soft materials as both medium and message. In the spirit of sustainability and reinvention, artists are encouraged to incorporate repurposed materials. The Los Angeles Makery will provide access to fabric, rugs, and other discarded textiles—inviting you to reimagine what might otherwise end up in a landfill. We are seeking work that engages with fiber in expanded and experimental ways: traditional or conceptual, sculptural or wearable, delicate or monumental.”

Summary: “What happens when things don’t go according to plan? Submit any artwork that embraces unpredictability, accidents, transformation, and unexpected outcomes. Surprise us with art we couldn’t see coming.”

Location: Art on 30th, San Diego
Exhibition Dates: 8/14/26 - 9/25/26
Mediums: All 2D artworks are welcome as well as any 3D artwork (glass/ceramic sculpture) that fits on a pedestal.
Entry Fee: $35 for up to 2 pieces

Summary: North Coastal Art Gallery is now accepting submissions for their upcoming abstract art exhibition. All mediums are welcome.
Deadline: 8/22/26
Location: North Coastal Art Gallery, Carlsbad
Exhibition Dates: 9/6/26 - 10/4/26
Mediums: All
Entry Fee: $35 for up to 2 entries for members, $40 for non members

Summary: “Open to all Orange County artists 18 years of age or older. Work must be original and executed within the past two years. Work must not have been previously exhibited at City Hall.”
Honorarium: 1st Place $1,200; 2nd Place $600; and 3rd Place $300.
Deadline: 9/8/26
Location: Laguna Beach City Hall, Laguna Beach
Exhibition Dates: 9/28/26 - 11/12/26
Mediums: Two-dimensional art works measuring no more than 48”(h) x 36”(w) framed.
Entry Fee: $25 for up to 3 entries
