Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls

  • Summary: “This exhibition invites artists to explore the vast beauty and mystery of outer space, from the awe-inspiring scale of galaxies to the intimate curiosity of stargazing. Artists are encouraged to submit work inspired by space and astronomy, including but not limited to planets, stars, black holes, rocket ships, and cosmic landscapes.”

  • Deadline: 6/23/25

  • Location: Newhall Community Center, Santa Clarita

  • Exhibition Dates: 7/7/25 - 10/1/25

  • Mediums: Painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, textiles, and mixed-media.

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: Carter Sexton Artists Materials is now taking submissions for their July show, Abstract! They are “looking for art that departs from depictions of reality, and instead communicates through lines, shapes, colors, and gestural marks.”

  • Deadline: 6/27/25

  • Location: Carter Sexton Artist’s Materials, North Hollywood

  • Exhibition Dates: July 2025

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: $15 per accepted piece

  • Summary: “Time is both a constant and a mystery — shaping us, stretching us, and slipping through our fingers. It can bring comfort or chaos, mark growth or decay, and stir nostalgia for what once was or what could have been. As artists, our relationship with time is deeply personal and ever-evolving — reflected in the work we create, the memories we chase, and the stories we tell. This theme invites a deep dive into the emotional and symbolic layers of time as muse, mirror, and measure.”

  • Location: Echo Park Art, Los Angeles

  • Exhibition Dates: 7/25/25 - 7/27/25

  • Mediums: “We are accepting both 2D and 3D artwork in all traditional and mixed media formats, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, installation and more. Original art made by signed artist only. We are not accepting collage, 3D-printed works, AI-generated art, or computer graphics for this exhibition.”

  • Entry Fee: $15

  • Summary: “Since 1950 our Gallery annually opens its doors for this highly anticipated open show, that welcomes the creativity and talent of artists in Southern California. It is juried in, and judged and awarded by Daniel Foster, and underscores a commitment to celebrate the diverse, and dynamic art scene of many artists.”

  • Deadline: 7/14/25

  • Location: North Coastal Art Gallery, Carlsbad

  • Exhibition Dates: 8/4/25 - 9/6/25

  • Mediums: Oil, Acrylics, Watermedia, Other Media includes: Pastels, Drawing, Inks, Printmaking. And Alcohol ink; Mixed Media/Collage, Photography, Digital Art, Sculpture\Wall hanging Sculpture, and Textiles. Giclée's are accepted but not judged. AI is not accepted.

  • Entry Fee: Members: $35 for up to 2 entries, and $15 for each additional entry. Non-Members: $40 for up to 2 entries, and $15 for each additional entry.

  • Summary: “The City of Costa Mesa invites artists across Southern California (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Ventura) to apply to ARTventure, our Juried Art Exhibition and event. More than 250 artworks will be accepted into the show and will be eligible for cash awards. Each artist is allowed two submissions. The Awards Ceremony will take place on September 20, 2025 at the Orange County Museum of Art.”

  • Location: Norma Hertzog Community Center, Costa Mesa

  • Exhibition Dates: 9/13/25 - 9/27/25
