Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls

  • Summary: “The Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DTLB Alliance), a non-profit business improvement district operating in Long Beach, is seeking design submissions from Long Beach artists and graphic designers for the creation of one of a series of neighborhood mural maps that will be strategically placed throughout DTLB. The purpose of the mural is to encourage on-foot exploration of Downtown’s unique neighborhoods, eclectic businesses and unexplored gems.”

  • Deadline: 7/7/25

  • Location: 345 Pine Ave., Long Beach

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: “That rug really did tie the room together—and now it’s your turn. We’re inviting artists of all disciplines to submit work for The Dude Show, an irreverent, inspired exhibition built around repurposed rug samples, donated by Marc Phillips, as raw material or conceptual foundation. Whether you weave, paint, sculpt, sew, collage, or break the rules entirely, this is your chance to pay homage to The Big Lebowski, the art of recycling, and the mystery of what truly “ties a room together.”

  • Deadline: Rug pick by July 13th. Artwork drop off August 3.

  • Location: Los Angeles Makery, LAM Gallery

  • Exhibition Dates: 8/7/25 - 9/6/25

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: $25

  • Summary: “Submit your hottest art – 12″ tall maximum – 3D pieces welcome! The gallery is located in the bustling lobby of the Joslyn Center, right by the parking lot entrance and across from the registration desk – a space that hosts dances, concerts, classes, and more. It’s a great spot to showcase your small but mighty creations!”

  • Deadline: 7/14/25

  • Location: Joslyn Center, Burbank

  • Exhibition Dates: 7/22/25 - 9/22/25

  • Mediums: Any work under 12” tall

  • Entry Fee: No fee to apply. “Non-members, if accepted, must become a member or pay a one-time participation fee of $40 (it’s only $10 more for a one-year membership).”

  • Summary: “We’re looking for depictions of all corners of the animal kingdom, from cute to fierce to just plain weird. Let out your wild side!”

  • Deadline: 7/25/25

  • Location: Carter Sexton Artists Materials, North Hollywood

  • Exhibition Dates: August 2025

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: $15 per accepted piece

  • Summary: “San Diego Art Directory is hosting a multidisciplinary one-night event, Homegrown Art Beat, on September 6 at Union Hall Gallery. Each artist will be given a section of the wall to arrange a mini solo exhibit. Digital art slideshows and film/animation will be projected on the screen in one or two specially dedicated spots during the event.”
