Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls

  • Summary: “The City of West Hollywood’s Arts Division seeks artist proposals for a digital file of a 2D artwork (digital, photography, painting, etc.) in a square format. The image will be printed on a vinyl material at 9x9 feet and installed as a temporary mural on the ground floor of the West Hollywood Park’s 5-story Parking Structure. The selected artist will be given a stipend of $3,000”

  • Deadline: 4/11/25

  • Location: West Hollywood Park

  • Exhibition Dates: The artwork will remain on display for approximately 18 months

  • Mediums: 2d art

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: “IKE Smart City, in partnership with the City of San Diego and the Downtown San Diego Partnership, is offering artists the opportunity to exhibit their work on our IKE digital kiosks. IKEs are touchscreen wayfinding devices that are installed on sidewalks throughout Downtown San Diego. Pedestrians can tap any IKE to find information for local restaurants, organizations, and social support. Every IKE digital kiosk in San Diego reserves time for local artists to prominently feature their work.”

  • Deadline: 4/20/25

  • Location: Downtown San Diego

  • Exhibition Dates: Each accepted artwork will remain on the kiosk for approximately 6 months

  • Mediums: “All artistic mediums are considered, as long as there is high-quality, color photography available at the time of submission”

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: “The sun glows softly, the birds bring their chorus of spring and the buds and blooms breathe out their fragrance. What does spring bring for you? Hope? Newness? Show us. Bring on the optimism and help us honor Mental Health Awareness month.”

  • Deadline: 4/25/25

  • Location: Ashton Gallery, San Diego

  • Exhibition Dates: 5/3/25 - 6/6/25

  • Mediums: All 2-dimensional art welcome and any 3-dimensional artwork (glass/ceramic sculpture) that fits on a pedestal. Photography, fabric, and journal pages are also welcomed if prepared for hanging. 

  • Entry Fee: $35

  • Summary: “The annual Plein Air exhibition at the Bonita Museum & Cultural Center highlights local farmers, farmers markets and produce. California Grown Plein Air call for entries is open to San Diego County artists to support and promote California and local agriculture, including Farmers' Markets, farms, and local produce.”

  • Deadline: 4/26/25

  • Location: Bonita Museum & Cultural Center

  • Exhibition Dates: 5/17/25 - 6/20/25

  • Mediums: Painting

  • Entry Fee: $20

  • Summary: “Formally All Media, Irvine Annual is a juried exhibition that showcases artworks from California artists ages 18 and older who work across multiple visual artistic mediums.”

  • Deadline: 4/30/25

  • Location: Irvine Fine Arts Center

  • Exhibition Date: 7/12/25 - 8/30/25

  • Mediums: “Media eligible for exhibition include assemblage, ceramic, collage, digital media, drawing, fiber, mixed media, metal, painting, paper, photography, printmaking, sculpture, synthetic materials, and wood. Please note that glass is not an eligible material for this call. All artwork submitted must be presented wall-mounted.”

  • Entry Fee: $20
