Calls For Art 3/9/25
Hi everyone!
I wanted to run something by you. I’m exploring the idea of offering an upgraded version of SoCal Art Opportunities that provides even more valuable resources beyond local calls for art and events.
Here’s the idea- In addition to what you already receive, the upgraded tier will also have the following each week:
5 grant/funding opportunities to provide financial support for your projects
5 additional calls for art from outside the SoCal area (expand your reach!)
Digital marketing tip with actionable steps to boost your online presence
Bonus resources like paid creative gigs, artist residencies, and publishing opportunities
I’m aiming for just $5/month. Why $5? To be completely transparent: this allows me to invest more time researching and curating resources that will bring you the most value, while still keeping it affordable for you. If this upgrade isn’t for you, no worries! You can still get the usual weekly newsletter with the same great local opportunities.
Is this something you'd be interested in? Let me know! I'd love to hear any suggestions or additional ideas that would make the upgrade even more valuable for you.
Would you be interested in this upgrade? |
Thank you so much for being part of this community—I’m excited to hear your thoughts!

Summary: “Topicality is OCCCA's forte, and the extreme weather caused by climate change has become an existential threat to our planet now. From Rembrandt and Turner to Gerhart Richter’s Secrets of Clouds, for centuries, artists have been interpreting the weather in their art. But now is the time for artists to make a statement. Not just beautiful sunsets and devastatingly frightening floods, but show us your high tides, big waves, atmospheric rivers, and storm cells. We have melting icebergs and glaciers falling into the ocean. Heat waves and dust blanketing large portions of the country. Tornadoes, hail, and lightning delivered by Cumulonimbus clouds. Show us all the extremes and kick up a storm.”
