Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls
Summary: “Open to all subject matters using transparent watercolors. Work may be completed en plein air or in studio; however, the top 1st Place award will be awarded to the “Best Plein Air Painting. Open to all LPAPA Signature, Artist and Student Members in good standing through the end of the show date. If accepted, submitting Non-Member Artists will be required to join as an Artist or Student Member prior to the show opening.”
Deadline: 3/24/25
Location: LPAPA Gallery, Laguna Beach
Exhibition Dates: 5/1/25 - 6/2/25
Mediums: Watercolor
Entry Fee: $40.00 for up to 2 painting images
Summary: “We invite artists of all ages to reimagine the whimsy and wonder of Lewis Carroll’s timeless tale. Choose a character or scene that inspires you—from the Mad Hatter’s tea party to Alice’s encounter with the Queen of Hearts—and craft your own two-dimensional masterpiece. Winners will receive prizes, and at least 10 pieces from each age category will be featured in the exhibit alongside 160 beautifully illustrated editions of the book. Don’t miss this chance to showcase your creativity and become part of Wonderland’s artistic legacy!”

Mediums: Accepted mediums include traditional (pencil, ink, watercolor, acrylic, oil, etc.), digital art, mixed media and must be two dimensional.

Summary: “The City of Santa Clarita (City) is inviting artists to submit artwork for consideration in the upcoming “Childhood Memories” juried exhibition, which will be on view at the Newhall Community Center. This exhibition explores the themes of nostalgia, innocence, and imagination, inviting artists to reflect on the moments that shaped their youth. From cherished personal experiences and beloved toys to childhood games and familiar places, this exhibit celebrates the magic of growing up. Artists are encouraged to capture the wonder, joy, and passage of time through a variety of styles, including whimsical illustrations, realistic depictions, and abstract interpretations of memory. Join us in revisiting the stories, dreams, and emotions of childhood through art in this unique and heartfelt exhibition.”

Summary: “Woodward Contemporary invites seasoned California artists to participate in Bridges Not Walls, our inaugural juried exhibition and opening celebration. Bridges Not Walls suggests that communication and collaboration are better than isolation and division. You can choose to break those walls through artistic expression. Bridges Not Walls suggests a strengthening of relationships and deeper connections not limited to your personal life, but your professional journey as well ... an appreciation of cultural, religious and philosophical differences. Summary: “Echo Park Art invites artists to step into a world of magic, myth, and wonder with "Once Upon a Time," a group exhibition celebrating the boundless imagination of fantasies and fables. This is an opportunity for emerging and mid-career artists to breathe life into timeless tales, legendary heroes, mystical landscapes, and forgotten myths through visual storytelling.”

Location: Echo Park Art Gallery, Los Angeles
Exhibition Dates: 5/2/25 - 5/31/25
Mediums: “We are accepting both 2D and 3D artwork in all traditional and mixed media formats, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, installation and more. However, we are not accepting collage, 3D-printed works, AI-generated art, or computer graphics for this exhibition.”
