Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls

  • Summary: “Kennedy Library is excited to extend the invitation and request for proposals to California-based artists for a mural to serve as the visual cornerstone of the renovated Robert E. Kennedy Library, opening Fall 2025. The mural, located at the Library’s main entrance, is an opportunity to contribute to the Library’s vital placemaking function, where the natural beauty and cultural history of the region are shared and treasured, and where discipline-based scholarship is located and used.”

  • Deadline: 3/20/25

  • Location: Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo

  • Mediums: Mural

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: “This Open Call invites submissions of abstract artwork of any style and medium. Submit the artwork you like best. We are open to all possibilities! The artwork will be judged based on creativity, originality, quality of work, composition, and overall artistic ability.”

  • Deadline: 3/23/25

  • Location: Covet Art Gallery, South Oceanside

  • Exhibition Dates: 4/12/25 - 5/3/25

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: $25

  • Summary: “Call for Fashion Designers: Edgy Eco-decadent designers from across the region are invited to show their arte-couture and bespoke tailored designs. Art fashions inspired by the re-using of objects destined for landfills. All garments can be constructed, assembled or embellished using non-conventional and conventional elements including thrifted, reconditioned, rummaged and scrapped materials. The Recycled Materials Runway Event features fashion designs with a focus on student, aspiring artistic fashion designers….or anyone who can “make it work”.

  • Location: Escondido Arts Partnership Municipal Gallery, Escondido

  • Exhibition Date: 5/3/25

  • Mediums: Wearable art made from recycled materials

  • Entry Fee: $10

  • Summary: “The 58th Newport Beach Art Exhibition presents an opportunity for artists to show and sell their artwork to the public in a one-day exhibit.”

  • Deadline: 5/9/25

  • Location: Newport Beach Civic Center Community Room and Civic Green

  • Exhibition Date: 6/28/25

  • Mediums: Paintings (oil, watercolor, acrylic), drawings (ink, pencil, pastel, charcoal), mixed media, sculpture, or photography

  • Entry Fee: $35 for one entry and $50 for two entries

San Diego Watercolor Society 45th International Exhibition

  • Summary: “The San Diego Watercolor Society is pleased to announce the Call for Entries for the 45th International Exhibition, 9/28 –10/31, 2025. The Exhibition will be held in our beautiful Gallery in The Arts District, Liberty Station. This year’s juror is award-winning artist Kathleen Conover, AWS, NWS, TWSA. $20,000 in cash and merchandise awards are anticipated, $6,000 First Prize. Water-based media (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, casein, or tempera) on paper, synthetic paper, wrapped canvas, or cradled wood panel is eligible. Paintings will be for sale both in our Gallery and Online! Deadline for entries is May 18, 2025. For questions, please contact [email protected].”

  • Mediums: Paintings must be water-based media (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, casein, or tempera) on paper, synthetic paper, paperboard, wrapped canvas, or cradled wood panel.

  • Entry Fee: Members: $45 first entry; $15 each additional entry, Non-Members: $55 first entry; $15 each additional entry
