Just a reminder that the artist websites are now available! There’s two different options to choose from:

Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls

  • Summary: “The Frida Cinema is proud to partner with our friends at the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center for our Painted for the Pictures Lobby Art Show, an exhibition made to compliment their newest gallery: Painted for the Pictures: The Illustrative Art of Classic Movie Posters. Southern California artists are invited to create their own alternative movie posters based on the original movie posters currently on exhibit at Muzeo, adhering to the following guidelines: All pieces must be inspired by one of the following films: Bonnie & Clyde (1967), Raiders of the Lost Ark, 9 to 5, Frankenstein, Return of the Jedi, The Shining, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, James Bond Diamonds Are Forever, Planet of the Apes (1968), Key Largo, Enter the Dragon, Moulin Rouge, Joan of Arc (1948), Moby Dick (1956), Sabrina (1954), Cabaret (1972), North by Northwest, Midnight Cowboy, The African Queen, Duel, Dial M for Murder, Nope, Kill Bill”

  • Deadline: 3/17/25

  • Location: The Frida Cinema, Santa Ana

  • Exhibition Dates: April - May 2025

  • Mediums: “There are no size/medium constraints, digital art is welcome, and we currently do not have the capacity to accept video/standing sculpture submissions”

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: “This is a California Creative Arts hosted show. Members receive priority. If you are not a member, you can join here. We are a nonprofit. Your membership fee is tax deductible, and you keep 100% of your sales. Non-members, if accepted, must become a member or pay a one-time participation fee of $40 (it’s only $10 more for a one-year membership). Hanging fee is $25 for up to two pieces; 2nd piece depends on space. Exhibit runs through productions: Hamlet, Ballet Contemporary and The Secret Comedy of Women”

  • Deadline: 3/17/25

  • Location: The Colony Theatre, Burbank

  • Exhibition Dates: 3/25/25 - 5/18/25  

  • Mediums: Art that is wired to hang

  • Participation Fee: Members: No fee, Non-members: $40

  • Summary: “Show us your nature themed art!”

  • Deadline: 3/28/25

  • Location: Carter Sexton Artists Materials, North Hollywood

  • Exhibition Dates: 4/5/25 - TBD

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: $15 per accepted piece

  • Summary: “The project aims to offer a vibrant, outdoor art experience for all users of the Dana Point Community Center. The goal of this mural is to enhance the beauty of the City facility and add character to the space, creating an inviting atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. The project should convey inspiring imagery for residents and visitors and reflect the community values in addition to the natural and cultural history of the area.”

  • Deadline: 3/31/25

  • Location: Dana Point Community Center

  • Mediums: Mural

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: “Inspiration awaits in a garden, wildland or even in an urban space. From the smallest leaf, bloom or bouquet, each artwork will be a unique appreciation of the timeless beauty of a flower. You may submit one piece of art to this Floral themed art exhibition if you’re a San Diego resident or a member of the EAP (Escondido Arts Partnership), art must be your original work.”

  • Deadline: 4/19/25

  • Location: Escondido Arts Partnership

  • Exhibition Dates: 5/10/25 - 6/6/25

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: EAP Members: $20 for one entry, Public: $30 for one entry
