Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls!

  • Summary: A unique art exhibition celebrating the vibrant intersection of visual and musical arts. This show invites artists to create paintings inspired by their favorite music or as if commissioned by their favorite band to design an album cover.

  • Deadline: 8/31/24

  • Location: Location1980, Costa Mesa

  • Exhibition Dates: 9/21/24 - 10/26/24

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: No fee

    Apply by emailing up to 3 entries to [email protected]. (Mention the Art of Wax in the subject line.)

  • Summary: “This exhibition seeks to capture the essence and diversity of the Golden State through the eyes of its talented artists. What does California mean to you? Is it the stunning landscapes, the vibrant urban scenes, the rich cultural heritage, or the spirit of innovation and freedom? We want to see your unique interpretation of California and how it inspires you.”

  • Deadline: 8/31/24

  • Location: Echo Park Art, Los Angeles

  • Exhibition Dates: 9/14/24 - 9/15/24

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: $25 for up to 3 works of art; $45 for 6 works

  • Summary: “Hidden, secretive, sexy black. Seductive, powerful, elegant black. Formal, prestigious, mysterious black. Step into the womb of night and bring on the noir! If your piece features dominant black—or simply features black in a prominent way—it is eligible!”

  • Deadline: 9/13/24

  • Location: Art on 30th, San Diego

  • Exhibition Dates: 11/9/24 - 12/6/24

  • Mediums: All 2-dimensional art welcome (min size: 10", max size: 72"). Any 3-dimensional artwork that fits on a pedestal. Photography, fabric, and journal pages are also welcomed if prepared for hanging.

  • Entry Fee: $35

  • Summary: “La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles, California, will be showcasing figurative, narrative and unusual works made of prefabricated materials also known as collage. Collage is different from assemblage in the sense that assemblage is made of 3-dimensional prefabricated objects while collage is 2-dimensional.”

  • Deadline: 9/15/24

  • Location: La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Los Angeles

  • Exhibition Dates: 11/8/24 - 11/30/24

  • Mediums: We will only be accepting collages done by hand using physical medium. Including but not limited to; fabrics, photomontage, decollage, découpage, etc. Digital collages and mosaics will not be accepted.

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: “Submit your art and if accepted, you will be welcome to join other artists in ArtNight’s Emerging Artist Gallery! Sell your art and keep 100% OF YOUR SALES! Our opening reception is the first Thursday of every month in conjunction with DTLA ArtNight. We will include your profile on our web-site. As a featured artist in our gallery, build your resume and showcase your talent to a wider audience.”

  • Deadline: Submissions are ongoing but applications for October’s ArtNight are currently being accepting

  • Location: Emerging Artist Gallery, Los Angeles

  • Exhibition Dates: 10/3/24- 10/31/24

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: $35 + Hanging fee is accepted
