Here’s the latest SoCal Art Open Calls!

  • Summary: “It is the color we use for first place ribbons. So let’s bring on the blue. Any piece that has prominent (does not need to be dominant) blue is eligible.”

  • Deadline: 8/23/24

  • Location: Art on 30th, San Diego

  • Exhibition Dates: 8/31/24 - 9/27/24

  • Mediums: All 2-dimensional art welcome and any 3-dimensional artwork (glass/ceramic sculpture) that fits on a pedestal. Photography, fabric, and journal pages are also welcomed if prepared for hanging. Must be original art and the artist's own work.”

  • Entry Fee: $35 for up to 2 pieces, $45 for up to 4 pieces

  • Summary: Carter Sexton Artists Materials is looking for science fiction themed art!

  • Deadline: 8/23/24

  • Location: Carter Sexton Artists Materials, North Hollywood

  • Exhibition Dates: TBA

  • Mediums: All, excluding AI

  • Entry Fee: $15 hanging fee per accepted piece

  • Summary: “Art breathes life into movements. Art builds bridges. Art asks us to think critically about the world around us. From the Chicano Moratorium’s marches against the Vietnam War in the 1960s and 70s, to the youth-led movements of the present, we have seen throughout the decades how artists have created works in the face of oppression and violence. The Lincoln Heights Youth Art Center invites you to submit works of art that are representative of what peace, justice, and solidarity can look like today. You always have power and a voice through art.” (All ages are welcome to apply)

  • Location: Lincoln Heights Youth Arts Center, Los Angeles

  • Exhibition Dates: 9/14/24 - 12/14/24

  • Mediums: Painting, Collage, Comic strip, Photography (to be printed by the artist), Digital art (to be printed by the artist), Sculpture (must be no more than 50 pounds), Video and audio works are ineligible at this time.

  • Entry Fee: No fee

  • Summary: “Photography provides many things; proof that something happened, the ability to capture a moment or memories, and even serves as a form of communication. We are looking for works that excite and inspire.  We’d like to see works that show your ingenuity, talent, heart, and perception through the lens.”

  • Deadline: 9/8/24

  • Location: Las Laguna Gallery, Laguna Beach

  • Exhibition Dates: 10/3/24 - 10/31/24  

  • Mediums: Photography; color and black & white

  • Entry Fee: $31

  • Summary: “In recognition of a long-standing tradition between artists and our national parks, Joshua Tree National Park Council for the Arts created an annual art exposition in 2013, with a juried exhibition featuring art depicting or inspired by the natural aspects of Joshua Tree National Park or its cultural history. The exhibition is displayed at the historic 29 Palms Art Gallery at the Oasis of Mara, next to park headquarters.”

  • Deadline: 9/15/24

  • Location: 29 Palms Art Gallery, Twentynine Palms, CA

  • Exhibition Dates: 11/1/24 - 11/30/24 | Art Expo Weekend 11/2-11/3

  • Mediums: All

  • Entry Fee: $35 for up to 3 different pieces of art
